How We Research This Guide

Most English-language guides to Korea repeat each other. The same ten temples, the same “must-eat” lists, opening hours copied from a blog post written in 2019. That is the gap this site tries to fill, and it is worth being plain about how.

What these articles are not

They are not first-hand trip reports. You will not find a sentence here that says “when I visited last spring” — because that visit did not happen, and writing it would be a lie. Nor are the photographs ours. Where an image comes from Google Maps contributors, the credit is printed under it.

What they are

Verified logistics — the part of travel writing that is actually hard to find in English, and the part that ruins a morning when it is wrong.

  • Official Korean sources first. Opening hours, closing days, admission fees and parking come from the Korea Tourism Organization’s public data and from the venue’s own Korean-language website. Much of this has never been published in English.
  • Foreigner-specific rules. Free admission for visitors under 18 or over 65, passport requirements, tax-refund thresholds — rules that exist but rarely reach English pages.
  • Accessibility and family facilities, where the official data records them: step-free routes, wheelchair and stroller rental, nursing rooms, and where in the building they are.
  • Getting there, specifically. Bus numbers, subway exits, and how long the walk from the stop actually takes.
  • Visitor consensus from Google Places — rating and review count are quoted with the number, so you can judge the sample yourself.

Dates, and why they matter

Korean opening hours move around Seollal and Chuseok, and festival dates shift every year. Every article carries the date it was last checked. If that date is old, treat the hours as a starting point and confirm by phone — the number is in the article.

When we get it wrong

Sometimes a venue changes its hours and tells nobody. If you went somewhere and found this page wrong, the contact page reaches a person, and corrections are made to the article with the verification date updated.
